If you are reading this blog for learning Tarot there might be two reasons for it. First you want to learn Tarot for yourself so that you don’t have to depend on other fortune tellers for your predictions. Or you might be learning Tarot so that you can Master Tarot Cards so that you can become a Professional Tarot Card Reader.

When I began reading Tarot I never planned that I will make it into a profession anytime sooner. It was just a hobby. But then a time came when I actually had began doing professional readings. And just accepting that “Im a Tarot Professional” was what was left on my part. I had not yet started telling people that I am a “Tarot Reader”

So here are a few tips that will help you to become a renowed Professional Tarot Reader - 

1. Your Intuition is super important - 

If you are learning to read the Tarot, chances are that you might feel whether you have to be intuitive or not. As not everyone who wants to become a Tarot Reader has that inbuilt habit.
Well I must tell you that intuition is a very important ability that we all have. But whether you have it active or not depends on how much that voice has been suppressed till now.
If you don’t feel that you have any intuitive ability, I would suggest developing it then first. Because without it you will be like a peacock without feathers. You get it how important it is for you!
You might be able to learn meanings of Cards from books, but its your intuition that will help you guide people to take action steps to make their life better. Mugging up books cannot help with life.

2. Practicing Tarot Reading regularly is a MUST

Practice is a must. You remember of any expert of any area become proficient with his/ her art without practice? NO. Its not at all possible for anyone. And so neither for you or me. If you want to become a professional Tarot Reader you have to be a Master at doing predictions. And so practice your skills.
Its not that you can do it few times a week. You need to do it daily. Yes on daily basis when you will do it, then you are going to have mastery over it. Don’t olympians who want to win do certain things for hours on daily basis….? Why? Yes you got it.

3. Learning from your mistakes is what will make you grow, sitting and lamenting and then putting the deck away doesn’t work.

Tarot is not a magic science that will come to you once you hold the deck, and make you a master prophesizer by its midas touch. Tarot techniques can be learned within a few days, but you will need to practice your skills. Giving up with your 1 or 2 mistakes will just make you a looser.
And yes write this is bold letters in your mind, that YOU WILL MAKE MISTAKES. Its not a magical science. It needs your attention and enthusiasm if you want to build up on this science.
Did you love something deeply from the heart, and then put it away just because you couldn’t understand it? Never right! you stood up once again and gave it a try. That’s the way you might have become a master at some art like drawing, cooking, biking, swimming etc. Then why do you have to leave Tarot if inititally you cannot show that magic with your cards?
Keep giving your best try, Tarot should get into your veins. And then it will be easy and smooth as butter to use it.

4. If some cards are difficult/ scary/ illogical , understand them they’ll pop up during your testing times. 

This is big deal. If some cards are boggling you, pick them out of the pack. And try to understand them.  They will pop up again and again during your readings. Yes I am saying that and I don’t mean to freak you out. But I just want to keep you alert enough. So that you are aware of this fact. And so that you start working for those cards that confuse you.
Scary cards means you have just taken some cards for their literal meanings, difficult cards are the one’s who you have not understood fully. And illogical cards are something that you have tried to link to something in your life but haven’t found any hint of what it can mean.

5. Certificates are important -

Though no certificate in this world can mean that you are an amazing Tarot Reader, but a Tarot Reader is someone who deals with lives of people. And when you are giving advice for life and decisions that can alter life. You need to have certifications. And people who are unknown can actually have a look at your certificates and heave a sigh of relief.
Like how you just like to have a look at certi’s in doctors office. So try to have your certi’s.

6. Being honest is important -

Being honest in a profession where you are dealing with lives of people is very very important. You might have seen businesses where there is a bit of diplomacy and salesy behaviour. Yet here you are not to just make money. Making a sale isn’t cumpolsory. I don’t mean to say that you don’t have to charge people. There is Karma involved so money exchange is important.
But being in this profession only so that you can charge people fat money shouldn’t be the reason why you have chosen this as a profession.

7. Charging money is important - 

Sooner or later if you turn into a Tarot professional this will become clear. Though you might have your day job that pays off your bills or you have some other source of income. But charging money is very important in return of your Tarot readings.
Limiting people to form a habit to visit a fortune teller has to be done. And that can be done only with the help when there’s a limitation of Money. Money when taken in exchange of a reading will surely become a block if people try to depend too much on your advice.
Keeping people away from coming repetedly to you is your duty. You cannot make a bunch of people just fearfully keep coming to you, so that you can earn money. Karma is also involved, and charging money will help you to raise that professional limitation. And avoid drama in future.

8. Accept your mistakes even in front of your Clients-

Yes you will be wrong sometimes. Also when you start dealing with new people there might be some ice-breaking needed. You are not perfect, and you neednt act like one in front of people. People who come to you are insecure and anxious for they are relying on you for their future. But that doesn’t have to make you behave like a Godly being.
Make them aware of the fact that you are normal and Tarot will help them to figure out problems of their life. When people visit fortune tellers they feel fortune-tellers have some extraordinary powers. And are connected to divine(yes you are, but as a normal human being. Whereas expectations might be something like you being a magician or miracle bringer who can swish wands).

9. Don’t make your clients dependant on you forever -

Being a future teller has its own pros and cons. And people getting dependant on you is one. Make people aware that they are living beings with freewill. And every human has a voice in them that guides them.
Let them trust their inner self more. Your work should be such that whether you are there for them, or they decide to live the life on their own. They will still be able to figure out a path for them. Future tellers are not someone who stays forever in a clients life. You don’t have to build your business like where you are the bank and people are gonna need you forever.

10. Be spiritual, realistic and practical -

You are going to help people with their life and future, so there has to be a lot of spiritual knowledge in you. As spirituality is what touches everyone and you can touch and improve lives of people with Spirituality.
But at the same time try to be realistic and practical. Spirituality sometimes separates people from the real world. You don't have to do that. People haven't some to you to learn spirituality. They have come to make their materialistic life better. So give them practical solutions to improve their lives.
Appearing spiritual and divine will tickle them for a moment. Then they'll want to see some really extraordinary feats from you. So its better to stay grounded and human.
Unless you are really very highly spiritual & evolved person, if you have accepted certain spiritual makeovers. Keep it simple. Know that spirituality isn't for showing off, which people coming to you might point out. So be natural there too. If you have taken up some dress code, your acceptance is what matters. You cannot accept everybody to accept it.

11. Accept what you cannot mend, you ain’t a magician -

Accept and act like a natural and normal human being. If people ask you to do something extraordinary which is beyond your capacity or capacity of humans. Be open and accept it in front of them. I have known many people who have had this problem. One of my participant was asked to magically change somebody's mind with Tarot cards. And it was impossible for him. And he was clueless how to deal with that client. 

So know that such requests are also gonna come up. And be prepared to handle them. 

12. Mugging up some Tarot Books cannot make you a Professional Tarot Reader

How many time have you heard this? Don't depend on bookish meanings. And still you have your mind wandering when you pull out cards, and wants to get back into some book that you read before?!
Tarot is something isn't mastered from Books. I have seen people doing this and trying to imitate to be some great Tarot Readers and Teachers. But that's not gonna work. When clients see your work they will come to know where you belong. So just calling yourself a Tarot Reader based on a few books you've read doesn't count.
Be honest with yourself and master your knowledge and intuition with Tarot cards. If you really love Tarot you are going to give it a try and work really hard to connect with the cards.
I mean genuinely it feels really great when your readings are accurate and people give heart-felt thanks to you for your readings.

Are you a beginner? Do court Court Cards suck? I used to suck big-time at court cards when I began with Tarot. I didn't know what on earth what those 4 different kings and queens meant.

I wondered if there is one king and queen then why is there need for another 3 pairs. And plus one more pair in the Majors!! Sigh. But wanted to learn Tarot, so had no other choice then Accepting the queenie and kingies. 

So I finally gave up complaining and started rubbing my brains best, on how these babies managed to get their place in the Rider Waite pack.

So here’s what they(kings, queens) told me. These people are not just helping us in the pack to learn about different personalities. But also how the people of different age behave in different situations in life. As you know that people though how good they are have a different way of behaving when they are stressed, tensed, happy and frustrated. 

How do court cards help us? 

If court cards show us only the negative and positive aspect of personalities of people, then you might be thinking that how the hell can they help!?

Well Court  cards when they help us to know the personalities and how they behave during their good and bad times. And plus how their behaviour also depends on their element. Can help you to learn how to deal with each kind of personality. And not just to deal but to deal with them efficiently. Be it they are your Family members, friends, or colleagues. You need to maintain relationships with people right! And not just these people you can also learn how to deal with clients, and teach them these secrets too. That will help them improve their relationships in their life. 

Which means a returning customer!! Wink wink. :)

Pages of all suits

Pages are the little people who have just emerged from other realm. They are immature only in their bodies. They still may have their spiritual traits and wisdom. Wrapped up in tender immature and innocent personality. That even creates mischief and a ruckus. Teaching the elderly to let go and take it easy. 

While leaving a lot of rough edges along the way, signalling they too need to learn in return. 

(some decks believe pages to be females) 

Knights - 

Knights of all suits

Knights are the little elder ones then the pages. Knights can be the adults or some believe they are the adolescents in their teens. With their love for speed and action. That is shown in their already riding horses. 

Knights give the signal to take action. Plus not just that their negative trait involves being too rough or speedy while being absent minded. Or giving lesser importance to the details. 

(some decks believe knights to be males) 

Queens - 

Queens of all suits

Queens are the females that are no more young or ignorant about life. They are the grown up females who have seen motherhood, maturity of being a woman and handling hassles plus their career(this also includes housewife career ;) )

Queens also signal motherly women are around, or motherly care is around. Be it from males though. 

Kings - 

King of all suits

Kings are males matured and experienced about “Life”. They don’t just display characteristics of elderly men. But they show their ripened sense of world and how to deal with it. Some of them might have succeeded at the challenges that the world threw towards them. While some might still be struggling and some might have accepted a failure. 

Kings show men who are masters of their fields they specialise in. Be it good qualities or the negative qualities. They might have mastered it all. 

While every personality has the zest of each of these court cards. They have the more of what the card says. 

How can you suggest improvement to yourself or other’s, through different suits the court cards belong to.. 

Self improvement with the court card of a particular suit -

Swords - 
Good aspects - Quick to decide, quick to act.

Negative aspect - Quick action, slows down in future and gets bored. Cannot stay constant with one idea or decision.  

Wands - 

Good Aspects - Can stay constant at one decision, steady and focused.

Negative Aspects - Fiery and hot blooded. Laser sharp focus can go wrong sometimes. And cannot accept failure or setbacks. Breakdown happens then. 

Cups - 

Good Aspects - Warm and loving, very caring and affectionate. Will never let anybody they love become helpless. Or will never let any stone unturned to help the people they love. 

Pentacles - 

Good Aspects - Slow and steady wins the race fits them. Money minded, love for materialistic pleasures and comforts. 

Negative aspects - Cannot hurry up, too slow. Can become too blunt with their materialism.

9 different ways to use Tarot Cards?

If you are new to Tarot chances are you are clueless on how to use your deck. Here are a simple few ways that can show you how to use your Tarot Cards. Tarot Cards have a number of uses. Just considering Tarot for predictions is under-estimating the power of this vast science. 

Tarot cards can be used in a number of different ways. The one’s listed below are a few of them. These will be easy to follow plus fun to do by yourself, or with friends. If your friends know of your Tarot Love then you can also carry your Tarot deck at your Girl’s night out party or outdoor camps and do these activities with your buddies. 

1. For daily guidance - 

Tarot Cards can be used for Daily Guidance. Use your pack to pull out daily one card after shuffling. You can do this fun exercise for yourself or for your tribe. Friends just love to know “what’s coming up?” and “What to do to improve their day?” 

That’s how newspaper daily prediction column runs unstoppable for years. 

2. For Regular Motivation - 

YES, here’s comes the trump card. If you are new to Tarot then you might not know but Tarot cards can be great for motivation. Life keeps getting challenging and difficult. And Tarot with its deep secrets to know human life and its challenges also know solutions to human life problems.

3. For knowing your personality - 

Tarot cards have 16 personality cards known as the court cards. These cards + some major’s also define strong personalities that humans can possess. You can pick out just the personality cards and shuffle them up and pick cards to get your personality.

Personality recognition is the key to finding solutions for that personality. Keep doing this exercise regularly for learning personality of your own as well as people. You will be amazed at how accurate this can be. 

4. For learning about your Career - 

Career questions not just come up for youngsters but people who seem to appear stable in their career also have curiosity to learn about theirs. There are several cards in your Tarot deck that can help you get answers for Career. Like the Suit of wands can actually give you a lot of answers for Career Related issues. I will be discussing more on this in future. 

5. For learning about your Relationships - 

You have your own Agony aunt in your Tarot Cards. LOL Yes the suit of Cups that tell you about relationship issues. Suit of cups has everything that a relationship goes through. From the initial phase to the ripe phase these cards can tell you all about a relationship. 

Not just the details, but tarot can also give guidance on how to improve it or about its strength. How its gonna see testing times and challenges. 

6. For learning about money & resources - 

Tarot guides you about finances. Financial stability is what everybody wants. And a little truth behind this is that everybody wants comforts and luxuries. Not what they have, but something that they see other having who might be a bit higher then their financial status. 

After all “Grass is always greener on the other side”. Keeping aside all that discussion Tarot can help you to learn about how finances can be in your life. And what to do inorder to keep finances steady in your life.

This is totally new to you, and I must say this is where versatility of Tarot comes to light. Tarot is not a boring tool for foretelling future. 

I must say every mode of fortune telling that tells only Whats gonna happen in future, are totally boring and lifeless. And they actually are the least that anybody wants to go to. Life is full and radiant. And everybody wants enjoy the wholeness of life. 

Tarot Can help you to dig out your inner skills and power. Your mind is really potent. The way this earthly existence rolls out for every soul putting its foot on it gets his mind screwed. And lives a life of limitations and keeps longing for greatness and power. 

Tarot can help you with this. And help you to know what’s the ultimate power that lies within you that can help you to bring that breakthorough in your life. 

8. For working upon your Fears - 

Tarot gives you the clear know-how of every Human soul. And also knows very well about the problems being a human brings. Tarot can help you with handling your fears. Handling your fears plus can also help is eliminating them. Yes its not a magic wand, that will swish its way to puff away the fear automatically.

You will require to work upon with Tarot. 

9. For setting your Goals - 

Goal setting is also possible with Tarot. Tarot is a set of cards that has all the phases of human life pre-defined into it. And they have been put systematically into the deck. Only you need to figure out what phase of your life is where. And then based on that you will be able to set your goals in a way that will make them the quickest and easiest available way to achieve it.

Choosing the Right Tarot Deck -

How to choose a Tarot Deck?

If you are a tarot learner you would probably be asking this to yourself. And if you don’t know that there’s more then one type of deck then welcome to the world of Tarot. Its not a lone party here. You have more then dozens of artists who have created their version of Tarot decks.

A right tarot deck can make you a star quickly, whereas a Tarot deck that’s not right for you can make you suck as a Tarot reader. Even if you are well learned with the card meanings.

Now moving onto the type of decks quickly, let’s cut the unnecessary crap. Tarot decks are of two types. Usually when you surf through the internet then you’ll come to know two basic types that are Beginner’s Tarot Deck and Advanced Tarot Deck.

Now if you are a layman for tarot you’ll surely never peep into the advanced tarot deck section and directly dive into beginner’s section and end up buying one.

So before you too do that like how thousands of tarot reader’s have done it in the past and then regretted their decision later. I would like to tell you one big secret about these types.

Beginner’s and Advanced Tarot Deck -

Beginner’s Tarot deck is the basic typo deck. I call these decks kindergarten decks. These decks also look like as if painted by kindergarten kids. These decks have just basic symbolism. They have highly glowing pastel shades and raw childlike images. These decks though appear so good on the list, will not give you much joy in doing any readings(that’s what I feel) as there would be hardly any connection to the deck.

What are the basic factors to take into account?

There are some basic factors that you need to take into account before purchasing your Right Deck. Here I have listed the main one’s. There are more too. But these main points count the most for the perfect selection.

Colors - See for the colour scheme in the deck. The colour scheme is very important. You are unique and so is your choice of colors. The deck that you choose should be one that you love and appeal you the most.

There are some decks that have very bright colors, some have monotone type of coloring, some deck have soothing light colors while other’s may appear with some collage type of work.

None of them are right or wrong decks. Choose the deck that appeals you the most with its colors.

Theme - There are themes of Tarot decks. A beginner deck will have just the Rider-Waite theme. But advanced decks have rider waite theme + some other theme. Like the Sacred India Tarot deck has the Indian Mythological theme of Ramayana & Mahabharata embedded along with the Rider Waite theme. The Fairy Tarot Deck will have the theme of Fairies and their kingdom embedded along with the Rider waite Theme.

Now you need to be careful if you are buying an advanced deck. As if you buy a deck with a theme that don’t have knowledge of, then you might have to learn it. Though most decks contain an accompanying booklet that will contain its meanings.

If you buy an advanced deck whose theme is very well known to you, then following that deck will be very easy for you to follow. Like if you have learnt about angels and if you buy Angel Tarot or Guardian Angel Tarot. Then those decks will fall very easy for you to understand. And you might not have to make any extra effort to learn them.

Connection - The one most important thing out of all these points listed. If you connect to the deck despite of other points not matching. Then you can go for the deck.

To know whether you connect to the deck you just need to know -

- Whether the deck attracts you, that its imagery has taken over your mind. And you dream day and night only of that deck? (Sounds like a love story, yes love story of you and your cards)
You touch it, and cannot put it down.
Looking at the images, you just feel that you are in love with them. You love the colours, artistry, strokes and they immediately remind you of some event or the other of your life.
Does it feel good? There are some decks that might not make you feel good when you look at them.

Images -

Images are the whole and sole most important things on your deck. I have browsed through 100’s of decks on the internet in the past 11 years and I have seen a variety of imagery on the decks.

Imagery types -
That makes sense easily
The looks like patches of images randomly put, that looks meaningless in the first look.
The images that don’t look perfect artistry but they do convey some meaning.
Images that feel as it they are sculpted from wood or some stone or folded from metal.

Now all these are basic types of imagery that I found on various tarot decks. It depends on you whether you love and connect with that type of imagery. I am using the word LOVE a lot throughout this post. Its just because loving your deck is very important if you are really serious about your tarot reading journey. 

For me the deck that has lovely artistry is very important. Deck should have perfect colors, great artistry and prefect proportions of the figurines that are drawn on it. For me to connect to the deck. I don’t connect at all to monotonous images, or images that have less detail and art. Its boring for me. Reason is I myself am an artist and love to draw and paint. It sucks when I see poor artistry and drab colors.

But that’s just my choice, for you it may be different. You might like some deck that has totally different sort of imagery. That has randomly placed images. Or even monotone imagery.

Symbolism - This is important as symbols are the ones that you are going to connect to. Symbolism can be easy to understand, they might be spread about randomly without any systematic order, or they might be symbolized in textures or patterns. Symbolism on tarot deck can be of variety.
Like there are decks that give symbolism that is very eye appealing, you'll feel as if you are looking at a photograph. And the symbolism embeds very easily in it, in a way that you feel it has direct connection to human life.
Whereas there is symbolism that appears weird(to me atleast) that will appear directly as a symbol rather then blending into the image. Like you can check this image below
