If you are new to Tarot chances are you are clueless on how to use your deck. Here are a simple few ways that can show you how to use your Tarot Cards. Tarot Cards have a number of uses. Just considering Tarot for predictions is under-estimating the power of this vast science.
Tarot cards can be used in a number of different ways. The one’s listed below are a few of them. These will be easy to follow plus fun to do by yourself, or with friends. If your friends know of your Tarot Love then you can also carry your Tarot deck at your Girl’s night out party or outdoor camps and do these activities with your buddies.
Tarot for Guidance

1. For daily guidance

This is totally new to you, and I must say this is where versatility of Tarot comes to light. Tarot is not a boring tool for foretelling future.

Tarot Can help you to dig out your inner skills and power. Your mind is really potent. The way this earthly existence rolls out for every soul putting its foot on it gets his mind screwed. And lives a life of limitations and keeps longing for greatness and power.

Goal setting is also possible with Tarot. Tarot is a set of cards that has all the phases of human life pre-defined into it. And they have been put systematically into the deck. Only you need to figure out what phase of your life is where. And then based on that you will be able to set your goals in a way that will make them the quickest and easiest available way to achieve it.

Choosing the Right Tarot Deck -

How to choose a Tarot Deck?

If you are a tarot learner you would probably be asking this to yourself. And if you don’t know that there’s more then one type of deck then welcome to the world of Tarot. Its not a lone party here. You have more then dozens of artists who have created their version of Tarot decks.

A right tarot deck can make you a star quickly, whereas a Tarot deck that’s not right for you can make you suck as a Tarot reader. Even if you are well learned with the card meanings.

Now moving onto the type of decks quickly, let’s cut the unnecessary crap. Tarot decks are of two types. Usually when you surf through the internet then you’ll come to know two basic types that are Beginner’s Tarot Deck and Advanced Tarot Deck.

Now if you are a layman for tarot you’ll surely never peep into the advanced tarot deck section and directly dive into beginner’s section and end up buying one.

So before you too do that like how thousands of tarot reader’s have done it in the past and then regretted their decision later. I would like to tell you one big secret about these types.

Beginner’s and Advanced Tarot Deck -

Beginner’s Tarot deck is the basic typo deck. I call these decks kindergarten decks. These decks also look like as if painted by kindergarten kids. These decks have just basic symbolism. They have highly glowing pastel shades and raw childlike images. These decks though appear so good on the list, will not give you much joy in doing any readings(that’s what I feel) as there would be hardly any connection to the deck.

Beginner's Tarot Decks>>

Recommended Advanced Decks >>

What are the basic factors to take into account?

There are some basic factors that you need to take into account before purchasing your Right Deck. Here I have listed the main one’s. There are more too. But these main points count the most for the perfect selection.

Colors - See for the colour scheme in the deck. The colour scheme is very important. You are unique and so is your choice of colors. The deck that you choose should be one that you love and appeal you the most.

There are some decks that have very bright colors, some have monotone type of coloring, some deck have soothing light colors while other’s may appear with some collage type of work.

None of them are right or wrong decks. Choose the deck that appeals you the most with its colors.

The images are from Da Vinci Enigma Tarot, see more about it here>>

These images are from Da Vinci Tarot , see here for more images and details>>

Theme - There are themes of Tarot decks. A beginner deck will have just the Rider-Waite theme. But advanced decks have rider waite theme + some other theme. Like the Sacred India Tarot deck has the Indian Mythological theme of Ramayana & Mahabharata embedded along with the Rider Waite theme. The Fairy Tarot Deck will have the theme of Fairies and their kingdom embedded along with the Rider waite Theme.

These are from the Mayan Tarot Deck, you can clearly see the Mayan theme. See here for more details>>

Now you need to be careful if you are buying an advanced deck. As if you buy a deck with a theme that don’t have knowledge of, then you might have to learn it. Though most decks contain an accompanying booklet that will contain its meanings.
To see more images from this deck, check here>>

If you buy an advanced deck whose theme is very well known to you, then following that deck will be very easy for you to follow. Like if you have learnt about angels and if you buy Angel Tarot or Guardian Angel Tarot. Then those decks will fall very easy for you to understand. And you might not have to make any extra effort to learn them.

Connection - The one most important thing out of all these points listed. If you connect to the deck despite of other points not matching. Then you can go for the deck.

To know whether you connect to the deck you just need to know -

- Whether the deck attracts you, that its imagery has taken over your mind. And you dream day and night only of that deck? (Sounds like a love story, yes love story of you and your cards)
You touch it, and cannot put it down.
Looking at the images, you just feel that you are in love with them. You love the colours, artistry, strokes and they immediately remind you of some event or the other of your life.
Does it feel good? There are some decks that might not make you feel good when you look at them.

Images -

Images are the whole and sole most important things on your deck. I have browsed through 100’s of decks on the internet in the past 11 years and I have seen a variety of imagery on the decks.

Imagery types -
That makes sense easily
The looks like patches of images randomly put, that looks meaningless in the first look.
The images that don’t look perfect artistry but they do convey some meaning.
Images that feel as it they are sculpted from wood or some stone or folded from metal.

Now all these are basic types of imagery that I found on various tarot decks. It depends on you whether you love and connect with that type of imagery. I am using the word LOVE a lot throughout this post. Its just because loving your deck is very important if you are really serious about your tarot reading journey.

For me the deck that has lovely artistry is very important. Deck should have perfect colors, great artistry and prefect proportions of the figurines that are drawn on it. For me to connect to the deck. I don’t connect at all to monotonous images, or images that have less detail and art. Its boring for me. Reason is I myself am an artist and love to draw and paint. It sucks when I see poor artistry and drab colors.

But that’s just my choice, for you it may be different. You might like some deck that has totally different sort of imagery. That has randomly placed images. Or even monotone imagery.

Symbolism - This is important as symbols are the ones that you are going to connect to. Symbolism can be easy to understand, they might be spread about randomly without any systematic order, or they might be symbolized in textures or patterns. Symbolism on tarot deck can be of variety.
Like there are decks that give symbolism that is very eye appealing, you'll feel as if you are looking at a photograph. And the symbolism embeds very easily in it, in a way that you feel it has direct connection to human life.
Whereas there is symbolism that appears weird(to me atleast) that will appear directly as a symbol rather then blending into the image. Like you can check this image below
These images are from the deck Deviant Moon Tarot, see more images here>>

Then there's this deck called Shadowscapes tarot, where there is so much imagery into one card, yet the deck looks appealing(acc to me). Its by Stephanie Pui Mun Law
To check more images and details about this deck check here>>

I have listed some of my favorite decks here, if you wish to check them then see the links next to them. Out of all of the shared images I totally love Shadowscapes Tarot and the Sacred India Tarot. You can check their images above. I personally own these decks so can swear by their imagery. Go for it if you like the samples.

Top 5 Best Tarot Author's -

Rachael Pollack - Rachael Pollack has made Tarot into a solid truth, before hr books came out Tarot was just a play. I am not insulting any other authors. But I have read many books and they all seemed like a child's play in front of Rachael Pollack's books. 78 Degrees of Wisdom, Kaballah Tree and Tarot Wisdom are some of the best books Ive known.

Mary K Greer - Mary Greer's books are strikingly different. She offer's not just information, but practical workable steps that you can take while you are reading her book/s. Mary has written some of the best books like 21 ways to read Tarot and Tarot for yourself

Barbara Moore - This is the one Tarot author I love. Her books are so easy to read and follow. I have seen very difficult and complicated explanations in other tarot books. Which most of the time bounced over my head. But Barbara has a simple way of explaining you something that Tarot symbols say. Rather then twisting and turning the entire thing making you feel all the more empty inside. Barbara's books will always keep you feel you are on plus after you put her book down.
Tarot for Beginners, Tarot Spreads are some of her best works according to me.

Joan Bunning - The best blog on Tarot meanings was later on put into a book which was an instant hit. And thereafter Joan has authored many good books including Tarot Reversals and Tarot Spreads.

Myself - Though I was hesitating to put my own name here in these top 5 categories, I am still putting it. I got somebody's feedback sometime back that my book was easily digestible where many other author's failed. So that's what makes me write this here.
I had tried reading books to learn Tarot at first, and that's where I know what a bad book can do to your learning passion. So when I started writing about Tarot, all I wanted is NOT to be one more book that would stack on shelf. But rather be useful to whosoever buys it. Tarot Journey of every soul is the book I wrote.

Top 5 Best Tarot Books -

78 Degrees of wisdom -

This is by far the best book on Tarot ever written. Its not me who says it but most of the Tarot reader's on this planet will say that. Not just to say, go and check it for yourself. This book has the meanings of tarot given with its spiritual connection with life.

21 ways to read Tarot -

This book is a great book for practical knowledge on learning Tarot. As I have said earlier that Mary is great with her Tarot art and just magically writes with the best guidance available for that card she's describing.

Tarot for Beginners by Barbara Moore  -

In this book Barbara has laid down the easiest way to understand a card. I have tried many books but when I read books by Barbara Moore I just didn't need to brush us the meaning again and again as when I read anything once the meaning hit the nail right away. Check out her book now.

Learning the Tarot by Joan Bunning

As I have said the author started her site by writing while she was learning. Now this is the book that she published based on her site. A must have for every beginner.

Tarot explains Journey of every soul

And just in that crowd of great one's I am also including my book on tarot. I have put down the best meanings that I could have. Tarot cards sometime baffled me with their meanings. And when some books seemed ridiculous with their meanings I made a promise that I am not sticking to the mugged up meanings that I have read. I would write whatever I feel is correct for every card. And that's what I did. I have received many reviews saying that my book was easily understood while other books did confuse.

Top 5 Best Tarot Websites -

Aeclectic -  This site is by far the best Tarot site that I have come across since past 12years. I have known Tarot since my Tarot toddling years. When I was a Tarot infant aeclectic nurtured me with the best of tarot treats.

Is Tarot bad?

Is Tarot Evil?

Many times I get this question. When I wanted to learn Tarot, at that time this question haunted my mind too. And it took me rather long to decide whether I should learn it or not. But as I tried and tested both the options of tarot being good and bad. I think I can share with you this topic.
Tarot is actually not bad. Its just a tool like every other tool you use to achieve a certain outcome. You can use Tarot to get answers, make predictions and get directions. These are basic things that you  think tarot can help you with. Tarot has many more uses.

Tarot is bad is a myth - Tarot has been linked to many bad names, and its not because its bad itself. Tarot has been quite mysterious. And its time of invention hasn't been sure, which makes it all the more mysterious about its origin. Tarot has been taken lightly as well as very deep as a subject. And both ways it has been able to handle the expectations.

Is Tarot related to Witchcraft or Black magic.
There are people who might be indulging into various practices, who might also choose tarot as a tool. Tarot being used by people doing ill practices doesn't mean its bad. Its just an object. Use it anyway, it doesn't have its own negative or positive energy.
Yes but a Tarot reader can always charge their cards to make them more positive or negative.

Is it not good for you?

Tarot isn’t good or bad. Its just a tool. Like you have told for every other work you do. For writing you have pens, for gardening you have gardening tools, for skiing you have skiing tools. In the same way Tarot is a tool for fortune telling and divination.

Why Tarot has a bad name ?

Tarot’s origin isn’t known till date. Where it originated, who created its 1st deck, and which year was it found the first time. All are yet unknown. And this fact itself makes it more mystical and freaky. Which can make tarot appear a bit strange and unusual.

Not just this, there are some people who used tarot with magical rituals that appeared scary and evil. Though people dealing with any art of fortune telling and prophecies have a typical manner to swirl their hands or chant mantras along with using their arts. People using tarot made it appear mystical and scary. They just did that to make tarot appear sacred and divine. While some might have portrayed a silly ghostly image too of tarot. Just to keep their clients aware that they are masters of something greater, and so should be respected for their art.

People practicing evil can be found everywhere. Not just evil practices but thinking evil and hateful also is bad. And this is common that every human gets such thoughts. But still we don't consider people thinking negative as negative people. Its not what you think, but what you do makes you.

What you decide to do with tarot, is totally upto you.
Though there are people doing evil practices with Tarot, you can still learn Tarot and use it in the most positive and uplifting way. Tarot can hurt and tarot can heal. Its upto YOU how to use it.
Tarot is just a tool. (like how a knife can be used to cut veggies to give good health, and same knife can be used to stab people.)

Does using Tarot bring Ghosts or spirits into your life?
NOPE. Never. Tarot as I said is just a tool. There are people who might be invoking spirits along with using tarot. But Tarot isn't going to automatically going to attract spirits into your life. There are some people who are very comfy with connecting to spirits while using tarot. They do it. And then there are people who don't like spirits, they like angels and higher divine energies. And so they choose to invite angels and higher energies while using Tarot.
If you are not comfy with spirits or spirit guides, then invoke divine angels and masters while using tarot. Its that simple!
People talking to Ghosts or other weird practices can be found using Tarot. But Tarot isn’t connected to Spirits.
